UCA exists to involve christians of all traditions in helping the poorest in Moldova. These are selected on the basis of need only and belong to the Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic Churches or to none. UCA is manned by unpaid volunteers only in Northern Ireland and Eire. It organises family sponsorship to support the poorest families, some of whom it encourages to foster children from orphanages.
